Our Creative Community
Who is coming to dance?
Our dancers come from all over. In our home state of North Carolina, we have dancers from across the state, from Asheville to Greenville and everywhere in between. We’ve had dancers make the trip from out of state, coming from Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and beyond.

Creative Partnerships that Benefit Our Dancers
Because we make you look good, we make the dancewear look good. We now have creative partnerships with two dancewear companies and more in the works. These creative partnerships benefit our dancers in multiple ways.
- Expanded selection of dancewear and tutus for your use.
- Periodic product photoshoots for full-day retreat alumni.
- Opportunities to meet the company owners and expand your network.
- Use of your images in their advertising, further enhancing your visibility in the dance world.

Our Creative Process
Creativity is not a one-size-fits-all process. Your creative framework will vary based on your age and your style of dance, such as contemporary dance, commercial dance, or classical ballet. We can work through improvisation, inspiration ideas, or any method that works for you. I will work within your preferred process to help hone your ideas to reflect your unique point of view. My goal for you is to release your creativity and succeed spectacularly.
Respect. Support. Time. Dedication.
Creating a meaningful image is about respecting and nurturing the dancer’s artistic voice, supporting them through their creative process, having time to make adjustments and explore variations, and having a photographer dedicated to your success who can light the scene, get the shot, and will always believe in you.
Breaking it Down
Respect.
You are an artist. It is your art, and you are the primary artist in my studio. Your authenticity, inspiration, and emotion are the essence that brings a photograph to life. I appreciate the vulnerability of dancing for the camera. Experiment with new looks and ideas, knowing that images that don’t meet your artistic standards will NEVER be seen by anyone else. When we get the shot, it is something you created, not just something you did.
Support.
A supportive and safe environment is critical to honing your artistic voice. We will move in the direction you choose. If you need help, I am right beside you to make suggestions. The #1 thing a dancer says after we make a first mark or pick something out of improvisation is, “I don’t love those arms for me.” I’ll help you workshop arms that express what you want to say.
Time.
Having the time to explore something new or view it differently is integral to creativity. Ever have the experience of feeling like you were so close to getting something the way you wanted it (or your teacher wanted it), and you ran out of time? We do everything possible to make sure that never happens here! Enjoy the artistic freedom of not worrying about running out of time.
Dedication.
I am a certified master photographer trained in dance photography who is fully dedicated to your success. Dancing for the camera is a challenge, and I’ll help you make the necessary adjustments. I’ll be there with ideas, corrections, and alternative variations to help you realize your artistic vision. Together, we will create stunning photography of your art.
